Doctoral Studies

The Doctoral Studies at the Department of Geography aims to educate and train high-level researchers capable of making substantial contributions to the advancement, development, and promotion of scientific knowledge and research activity in fields within the broad domain of Geography, as well as in interdisciplinary areas that relate to or intersect with it.

The program seeks to cultivate critical thinking, research independence, and the ability to generate original knowledge, through systematic and focused engagement with contemporary scientific questions. Doctoral candidates are encouraged to adopt interdisciplinary perspectives, apply modern methodological and technological tools, and participate actively in the research community, both nationally and internationally.

The doctoral thesis must be an original and documented scientific work. Upon successful defense of the dissertation, the candidate is awarded the title “Doctor of the Department of Geography of Harokopio University,” recognizing their academic maturity and scientific contribution.
