Description: The SPINE project investigates spatial inequality in Greece within a constantly evolving socio-economic landscape. Its main objective is to conduct a systematic and comprehensive analysis of the patterns, drivers, and consequences of socio-spatial inequality across multiple territorial scales, emphasising emerging forms and dimensions. The project adopts a multidimensional and innovative framework, utilizing advanced indicators of well-being and cutting-edge spatial data analysis and spatial econometric techniques. It also explores the relationship between inequalities and broader processes such as globalization, crises, European integration, and policy shifts. It critically assesses existing regional policies and proposes new strategies to enhance social and territorial cohesion. SPINE aims to contribute both theoretically and empirically to the understanding of spatial inequality, providing insights for public debate, evidence-based policymaking, and the development of more effective and equitable regional development policies.
